Gilgit-Baltistan employees: “GB Weather Charges” released, paid once every winter

Gilgit-Baltistan Secretariat, Finance Department has issued an important notification on March 22, 2018, under which it has been decided to give “GB Weather Charges” to all government employees, members of assembly and ministers for the winter season. These charges will be applicable in place of the earlier “Hot & Cold Weather Charges”.

Important Update:

This allowance will be given for the period from November 16 to March 15 every year in winter.

Rates (per season):

         i.            Rank/BPS Rate (in Rs.)

       ii.            BPS 1-10 Rs. 12,000

     iii.            BPS 11-16 Rs. 18,000

     iv.            BPS 17 and above Rs. 28,000

       v.            Ministers, MLAs, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Advisor, Special Assistant, Coordinator, Parliamentary Secretaries Rs. 28,000

     vi.            Contingent Paid Staff Rs. 6,000

Terms and Conditions:

         i.            Payment Period: These charges will be given only once a year for the winter season.

       ii.            Mode of Payment: Preferably paid with the salary of the month of November.

     iii.            Not part of pension/gratuity: This amount will not be included in the calculation of pension or gratuity, nor will it be considered as part of salary.

     iv.            Non-Payable During Vacation: In departments that work on vacation system, these charges will not be given during vacation.

Who will get this allowance?

         i.            All Government Employees of Gilgit-Baltistan (Permanent, Temporary, Contract)

       ii.            Members of Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA)

     iii.            Ministers, Speaker, Deputy Speaker

     iv.            Advisors, Special Assistants, Coordinators, Parliamentary Secretaries

       v.            Contingent Paid Staff (Temporary/Daily Basis Employees)

Notification Details:

This notification has been issued by the Finance Department, Gilgit-Baltistan Secretariat and has the approval of the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan. Its purpose is to support employees working in cold and difficult weather conditions.
